I was packing to go on a trip recently and wanted to take my hand sanitizer with me but couldn't find my holder for it. That lead me to searching Pinterest for a pattern to make myself one, but I wasn't having any luck. I decided to try making one based off my lip balm keychain and it worked out perfectly for me.
Be sure to pin this post so you can come back and find it later. You can find my simple pattern below or you can purchase the PDF version
here.
Materials
2.75mm hook
Worsted weight cotton yarn
1/2" swivel D clasp
Notes
I tend to be a lose crocheter so if you know you are a tight crocheter, you might need to size up in your crochet hook. You want the sanitizer bottle to be snug in the keychain, so it won't fall out easily.
Pattern
Holder
Chain 9
1: SC in 2nd chain from hook and across to end (8sts). Turn and SC along the back of your chain, joining with a slip stitch to the first SC to form an oval (16sts).
2: Chain 1, 2SC in first stitch, SC in next 6, 2SC in next 2 stitches, SC in next 6, 2SC in last stitch. (20sts). Join to first stitch.
3-12: Chain 1, SC around and join with a slip stitch to the first stitch. (20sts)
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Loop
Find the center 4 stitches on the back of the holder and join yarn.
1-5: SC 4, chain 1, turn. (4sts)
6: SC 4, fasten off leaving long tail for sewing.
Thread the loop through the clasp, folding towards the back of the holder, and sew along the bottom edge. Weave in ends.
I hope you enjoyed this quick and useful pattern!
I would love to see your finished keychain!! Be sure to share and tag me @crochethappens.
