Sea Glass Sunglass Case ~ Free Crochet Pattern

It is finally feeling more like spring here in Ohio and it has me reminiscing about last years trip to the Outer Banks, sitting on the beach watching my husband and youngest son out in the water while I hung out under my trusty umbrella, listing to an audio book while knitting my first pair of socks. We also love walking the beaches admiring the ocean and looking for unique shells and sea glass.

So when I chose the colors of yarn for this sunglasses case, I could not help but be reminded of the beach and the colors of sea glass, hence the name. (Can you spot the piece that looks like a heart?)

This case is made using 2 strands of yarn held together, making it work up thicker and quicker than my other sunglass case patterns. I also decided to go with cotton yarn this time which also feels more beachy to me than my usual acrylic.

You can find the free pattern below or purchase the PDF version here.

Finished Size 3.3' x 6.5"

Materials

Worsted weight cotton yarn. I used Hobby Lobby's I Love This Cotton in the colors Royalty and Aspen

5mm crochet hook

Button (I found mine at Hobby Lobby)

Darning needle

Scissors

Pattern

Holding 2 strands of yarn together, chain 11. HDC in 2nd chain from hook and across to the end of your chain, then working back along the bottom of your chain, HDC back to the beginning, making an oval. You should have 20 stitches. Continue working in the round until your case measures 6.5" tall or desired height.

Button loop: beginning at one of the corners, HDC 5, chain 12, slip stitch into the 1st chain, HDC 4, HDC slip stitch, slip stitch, fasten off and weave in your end.

Using a strand of yarn, sew your button onto the front of the case, looping through a couple times and securely tying off.

I hope you enjoyed making this sunglasses case! Be sure to share photos of your finished Sea Glass Case and tag me, @crochethappens on Instagram or @shopcrochethappens or Facebook. I would love to see!

Happy crocheting,

Maggie
