I was organizing a bit around the house and decided to tackle the coffee table drawer. It was full of all kinds of little items our youngest son had stuck in there: seashells, lip balms, random keys that don't go to anything, Legos, stickers. When I finally had it cleaned out it was all great until I realized the lip balm and earbuds were constantly rolling around every time the drawer was opened and closed. Originally I looked for a small basket at our local Hobby Lobby but couldn't find any shallow enough for the drawer and then it hit me, why not make one.

Naturally I decided to go with what I already had on hand, so I grabbed my Bernat Maker Home Decor and got to work. This little basket is quick to make and very handy. It is also so simple that it can be easily adjusted to be made smaller or bigger by increasing the size of the bottom.

Materials

Finished basket measures 4" x 5"

Pattern

Bottom of basket

Chain 15, Half Double Crochet (HDC) in second chain from hook and across. Chain 1, turn (14sts).

Row 2-9: HDC to end. Chain 1, turn (14sts).

Sides of Basket

Round 1: Working along the end of the bottom piece you just created, HDC at the end of each row, putting 2 HDC in each corner. Slip stitch to join, chain 1.

Rounds 2-3: HDC around, slip stitch to join.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Now you have a cute little basket for all your small items in need of a home. Be sure to share your creation and tag me @CrochetHappens.

Happy crocheting,

Maggie
